Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior forwards Stephen Collins and Trevor Hills each scored a goal and an assist while senior goalie Matt Leon totaled a career-high 37 saves to lead the No. 11/12 Knights to a 2-1 victory at Morrisville in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey action, Saturday.
Hills tallied the lone goal of the first period to put the Knights (13-3-4, 7-1-3 SUNYAC) up 1-0 with 7:47 on the clock.
Following a Mustang (5-13-2, 1-10-1 SUNYAC) roughing penalty with 5:32 on the second period clock, Collins cashed in a power play goal with 4:37 showing to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. Morrisville got on the board with 1:42 remaining on a tally by Brett Johnson to make it a one-goal game heading into the third period.
The Geneseo defense was the difference in the final stanza as the Knights held the Mustangs to only six shots to preserve the victory.
Geneseo returns to action next Friday (Feb. 5) as Brockport hosts the Knights for a 7:00 p.m. face-off.
