FREDONIA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior guard Justin Ringen scored a game-high 28 points, including 7-of-11 three-pointers to lead the Knights to a 87-80 victory at Fredonia in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball, Friday.

Junior guard John Decker added 19 points while sophomore guard Kevin Crockett added 14 to lead five Geneseo (9-3, 3-2 SUNYAC) players scoring in double-figures.

Fredonia (3-9, 2-4 SUNYAC) got out to a 18-10 lead with 14:53 to play in the first half, but a lay-up by first-year forward Jack Manke capped a 12-4 run by the Knights that tied the game, 22-22, with 9:13 on the clock. Tied, 31-31, Ringen knocked down three-point baskets on three-straight posessions to stake the visitors to a 40-33 advantage that grew to 10 at halftime, 48-38.

In the second half, Fredonia pulled within four, 54-50, on one of Richard DeLacruz' six three-pointers on the night, but a 14-7 spurt that included two long-range strikes apiece by Ringen and Decker pushed the Knights' to a 69-57 edge with 12:22 left in regulation.

A lay-up by sophomore forward Jordi Menkhorst staked Geneseo to its largest lead of the night, 73-60, with 8:15 on the clock, but the Knights would go without a point for nearly six minutes as Fredonia scored 12-unanswered points to pull within one, 73-72, with 3:10 remaining. 

However, Geneseo was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line over the final 2:25 of regulation, including six by Crockett, to seal the win.

Geneseo returns to action on Saturday, facing host Buffalo State at 4:00 p.m.
