Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Matt D'Amico and sophomore back Kevin McGrath each tallied two goals to lead the Knights over visiting Nazareth, 5-1, in non-conference action, Tuesday night.
Geneseo controlled play and spent a majority of the first half in the Golden Flyers' end of the field. In the 35th minute, D'Amico put the hosts on the board with a score into the top left corner of the goal from the right side of the penalty area off an assist from junior forward Ethan Gunty.
The Knights netted two goals in a span of two minutes early in the second half to break away from Nazareth. In the 52nd minute, McGrath scored from 10 yards out into the bottom right corner off an assist from sophomore midfielder Reidis Lata. Geneseo made it a 3-0 game after senior midfielder Stanley Egbuchulam collected a through ball by senior forward Jesse Levy and scored into the lower right half of the net.
In the 65th minute, McGrath notched his second goal of the night, scoring from the top of the penalty box off a pass from Egbuchulam. Nazareth found the back of the net in the 80th minute as first-year midfielder AJ Muoio knocked in a rebound off a save following a free kick from just outside the 18-yard line.
In the 89th minute, D'Amico struck again off an assist from first-year midfielder Gavin Gleasman to seal the win for the Knights.
Senior keeper Logan Calvey and first-year keeper Matt Cove combined for just two saves on the night as Geneseo (5-2-3) outshot Nazareth (0-10), 26-6, and had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Knights returns to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action this Friday with a game at New Paltz slated to begin at 3 p.m.
