Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Jesse Levy tied the game with a goal in the 37th minute, but it was visiting Buffalo State tallying the game-winning goal in the 68th minute to send the Knights to a 2-1 setback, Saturday, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's soccer action.
Buffalo State (6-2-2, 1-0-1 SUNYAC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute after junior midfielder Luke Pavone made a quick cut from the left wing and scorched a shot from the top of the penalty box inside the right post.
Geneseo (4-2-3, 1-1 SUNYAC) evened the score in the 38th minute Levy received a nice drop pass from junior midfielder Alex Clar at the top of the penalty box and fought off a defender to score on a 10-yard shot into the right side of the goal.
In the 67th minute, Buffalo State first-year forward August Finn was tagged with his second yellow card of the match and was sent off with a red card as the teams were setting up for a Bengal corner kick. However, on the ensuing attempt, Pavone out-lept the Geneseo defense and headed the looping service by sophomore midfidler Tristan Myers into the heart of the Knights' goal for what proved to be the game-winner.
Geneseo finishes a three-game home stand on Tuesday, hosting Nazareth at 7:00 p.m.
