Box Score GENEVA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior keeper Logan Calvey recorded six saves as the Knights suffered their first loss of the season at Hobart, 2-0, in non-conference play, Saturday afternoon.
"We didn't put forth our best effort today and we were dominated for a majority of the game," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "There is still a lot of improvement to be made but we can learn from this game and begin preparing for the start of conference play."
The Statesmen got on the board in the 42nd minute after senior defender Tyler Niles scored unassisted into the top of the goal from the center of the penalty area.
In the 50th minute, sophomore midfielder Zach Poretz tapped in a goal right in front of the net off an assist from senior defender Tyler Terens to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
Hobart (5-1) finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots.
Geneseo (3-1-3) will begin State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play next Friday at home against Fredonia. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
