Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior back Brad Campion tallied his first goal of the season to lead the Knights to a 1-1 draw at No. 13 St. Lawrence in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.
"This was a great result for us today. St. Lawrence is a tough place to play and this certainly was our biggest challenge all year," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "We shut them down offensively in the first half but they're a strong team and were able to knock one in late. Both teams had a chance to win it in overtime so it could have gone either way but I'm happy we were able to hang in there for a positive result."
In the 21st minute, Campion put Geneseo on the board after he scored off an assist from sophomore back Kevin McGrath, who got a touch on the ball following a corner kick by senior midfielder Jaisen Clark.
The Saints (4-0-1) tied up the game in the 74th minute off a goal from first-year midfielder Jethro Dede. The Knights strung together several scoring opportunities in extra time but the hosts held strong defensively to maintain the tie.
Senior keeper Logan Calvey finished the match with six saves as St. Lawrence outshot Geneseo, 21-14.
The Knights (3-0-2) return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16, for a game at Houghton set to kick-off at 7 p.m.
