Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forwards Ryan Donnelly and AJ Sgaraglio each notched a goal and an assist while senior goalie Nick Horrigan was credited with 24 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season to lead the Knights past Brockport, 3-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Friday.
Sgaraglio tipped his first goal of the season inside the left post off an assist by Donnelly to give the Knights a 1-0 lead with 2:29 left in the first period.
Sgaraglio was able to return the favor at the end of the second period after senior forward Zach Martin fed him a pass in the middle of the neutral zone. As a Brockport defender moved forward to play him, Sgaraglio slid a pass forward to a streaking Donnelly, who scored on a hard shot from the middle of the left faceoff circle into the upper-right corner of the goal 13 seconds before the second period ended, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead at the second intermission.
Twenty seconds into the third period, sophomore defenseman Derek Stahl scored his first collegiate goal on a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that made it past a screened goalie into the upper right corner of the net for the game's final tally.
Horrigan moved into first place on the Geneseo career shutout list after preserving the fifth of his time in net for the Knights.
Geneseo finishes the home portion of its regular-season slate next weekend, hosting Cortland on Friday (Feb. 13) and Oswego on Saturday (Feb. 14). Both games are set to face-off at 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Ice Arena.
