Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Gordon Lyons totaled 17 points and 14 rebounds while senior guard Andy Drescher added 14 points, but it was third-seeded Oswego taking down the second-seeded Knights, 72-61, in the semifinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Tournament, Friday, hosted by Plattsburgh.
Tied, 21-21, with 9:27 on the first-half clock, a lay-up by senior forward Devon Anderson, followed by a three-point field goal by senior guard Connor Rogers staked the Knights to a 26-21 edge at 7:33. The first-half lead grew to as many as eight, 37-29, with 3:51 remaining as Geneseo carried a 39-34 edge into the halftime locker room.
A three-point basket by senior forward James McKenna put the Knights up, 47-40, with 17:39 on the second-half clock, but Oswego scored 11 of the next 13 points to take a 51-49 lead at 11:58 that it never relinquished.
An Anderson lay-up tied the score, 51-51, at 10:06, but the Lakers held the Knights without a field goal over the next seven minutes to take a 65-53 lead with 3:06 left in regulation that put the game out of reach.
Lyons was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team for his performance.
Making its 10th appearance in the SUNYAC Tournament in the last 12 years Geneseo finishes the season with a 16-10 record.
