BUFFALO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior defenseman Matt Solomon and sophomore forward Trevor Hills each totaled a goal and an assist to lead the Knights to a 4-4 tie at Buffalo State in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey, Saturday night. 

With the tie, Geneseo (12-9-4, 9-6-1 SUNYAC) clinched the third seed for next week's SUNYAC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Brockport at 7:00 p.m. The winner will advance to play at second-seeded Oswego on Saturday in the semifinals. 

The teams combined for six goals in the first period, playing to a 3-3 tie at the first intermission. Marcus Michalski got the Bengals (11-11-3, 7-6-3) on the board with a short-handed goal with 16:08 on the clock, before junior forward AJ Sgaraglio found the net 1:13 later.

Taylor Pryce put the hosts back on top with a power-play goal at 12:40, before the Knights took their first lead of the game with back-to-back power-play tallies of their own by Hills at 4:33 and Solomon at 1:59. Buffalo State tied the score with 24 second to play in the period to close the back-and-forth 20 minutes.

The teams traded goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period, before playing the rest of regulation and overtime scoreless. Senior forward Ryan Stanimir put Geneseo back on top with a power-play tally with 14:18 on the clock, but Zach Nieminen netted the final goal of the game with 10:22 on the clock.

Senior goalie Nick Horrigan finished the game with 23 saves, while Buffalo State net minder Mike DeLaVergne was credited with 28 stops.
