Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Tyler Brickler scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Knights past Fredonia, 6-1, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey, Friday.
The Knights (12-9-3, 9-6-0 SUNYAC) scored goals in the first and second period to lead 2-0 at the second intermission, before four goals in the third period, including three during a 1:34 span, broke the game open.
Senior Nick Horrigan was credited with 38 saves to earn the victory in goal for Geneseo.
Brickler opened the scoring with a tally with 12:44 on the clock for the only goal of the first period. First-year forward Sotiris Athanasopoulos cashed in an assist from Brickler at 12:03 of the second to make it a two-goal edge for the visitors.
Brickler notched his second goal of the evening one minute into the third period, before Fredonia answered 1:27 later to make it a 3-1 lead for Geneseo. With 4:48 remaining in regulation, sophomore forward Jack Ceglarski scored a power play tally, before Brickler completed the hat trick 53 seconds later. Sophomore forward Trevor Hills added the final tally 15 seconds later to give the visitors a commanding five-goal lead with 3:14 to play en route to the victory.
A win or a tie at Buffalo State on Saturday (7:00 p.m.) in the regular-season finale would clinch the Knights the third-seed for the SUNYAC Tournament, while a loss would drop Geneseo no lower than fourth in the final standings.
