Box Score

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore guard Kara Houppert recorded a career-high 20 points to lead the Knights to a 65-52 victory against visiting Oneonta in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Saturday afternoon.

Junior forward Allison McKenna and junior guard Dana Cohan each added 13 points in the win as seniors Shannon McGinnis, Biz Reinhardt, Katie Peterson, Lea Sobieraski and Alison Brockett were honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.

The Red Dragons (13-10, 8-8 SUNYAC) jumped out to an early 10-2 lead after a bucket by junior guard Bryn Loomis at 17:12. At the 14:37 mark, McKenna hit a jumper to cut the deficit to five, 14-9.

At 11:53, Onenta first-year forward Jillian Davis put back an offensive rebound to give the visitors a 19-11 advantage. Geneseo responded by going on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 19 with 10:15 on the clock. The run was capped by a Houppert three-pointer.

McGinnis made a jumper to make it a 22-21 game at 6:38 as sophomore guard Katie Durand hit a shot from beyond the arc to tie up the game once more, 26-26, with just over a minute left in the half. Durand converted two-free throws in the final seconds to give the Knights' their first lead of the afternoon and a 28-26 lead at the break.

Leading, 30-28, just over a minute into the second half, Geneseo went on an 8-0 run to build a 10-point advantage, 38-28, at 15:12 as Houppert had all eight points in the run.

At 12:41, McGinnis hit a three-pointer to give the Knights a 14-point lead, 46-32. The Red Dragons made a lay-up to come within eight, 46-38, with 9:50 on the clock but that's as close as they would come for the remainder of the game.

Geneseo went 12-12 from the free-throw line in the final 7:35 of the game and led by as many as 15 points to clinch their 12th-straight victory.

The Knights (18-4, 14-1 SUNYAC) will host Oswego Tuesday, Feb. 17, for their final home game of the regular season. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
