Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Matt D'Amico records his team-leading seventh goal of the year to lead the Knights to a 1-0 double overtime victory over visiting RIT, Wednesday night, in non-conference action.
Geneseo and RIT tallied four shots apiece in the first half but neither team was able to find the back of the net. In the second half, the Knights controlled play and fired off 13 shots to the Tigers' one.
In the 56th minute, senior midfielder Jaisen Clark had a clear shot from the middle of the penalty area but sailed the ball high. Just over two minutes later, Clark's shot off a free kick from just outside the box on the left half of the field was wide right of the net.
The Knights' next best opportunity came in the 84th minute when sophomore back Kevin McGrath's shot from 15 yards out was just barely saved over the crossbar by RIT's first-year keeper, Peter Cinibulk.
In the 106th minute, D'Amico flicked the ball over Cinibulk from the middle of the penalty area after taking an assist from senior midfielder Connor Beisner for the game-winning goal.
Geneseo (6-4-3) outshot RIT (4-7-0), 21-6, on the night as senior keeper Logan Calvey made two saves to preserve his fourth shutout of the season.
The Knights return to action this Saturday night at home versus Brockport. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
