Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior forward Erin O'Connor tallied a goal as the third-seeded Knights came up short to sixth-seeded Oswego at home, 2-1, in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Quarterfinals, Saturday afternoon.
In the 41st minute, the Lakers struck first when sophomore midfielder Alexa Restante scored into the right side of the net after first-year midfielder Audrey Burbidge sent her a cross from the left half of the field that skipped through Geneseo's defense.
The Knights responded in the 78th minute when O'Connor notched a goal into the right corner of the net following an assist through the middle of the field from sophomore forward Leah Greene.
In the 83rd minute, Oswego scored what proved to be the game-winning tally. Burbidge found the back of the net after junior forward Nicole Perniciaro stole the ball in the middle of the field, dribbled into the penalty area and delivered a pass to Burbidge who was five yards out for the top-shelf score.
Geneseo outshot the Lakers, 11-8, on the afternoon as each team had two corner kicks and first-year keeper Emily Janiszewski made four saves.
The Knights finished their 2015 campaign with an 11-5-1 record and do not advance to the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals after making appearances the last two seasons.
