GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Giovanna Fasanello scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 75th minute, to lead the Knights to the 3-2 overtime victory over visiting Ithaca, Wednesday.

Fasanello took a feed from sophomore midfielder Morgan Maley during a penalty corner attempt and lofted a shot from the top right corner of the circle into the top left corner of the Ithaca cage for the deciding tally.

Geneseo (10-7) carried a 2-0 lead into halftime. First-year midfielder Tess Necaise made it a 1-0 game in the 30th minute with a close-range shot inside the left post to convert a penalty corner attempt.

Just over three minutes later, a shot by Fasanello deflected through traffic and into the Bomber cage during another penalty corner attempt for her first tally of the game.

Ithaca (11-4) got on the board in the sixth minute of the second half after junior forward Colleen Keegan-Twombly collected a rebound during a penalty corner attempt and scored on a short shot.

With 4:00 remaining in regulation, senior defender Caitlin O'Brien scored on a long-range bullet from the top of the circle on a penalty corner to knot the score, 2-2, and force overtime.

Ithaca had three penalty corner attempts to start the overtime period, but Fasanello came up with a defensive save just outside the right post and Knights senior goalie Dayna Mercer made one of her five total saves in the game to keep the Bombers off the board and set up Fasanello's eventual game-winner. 

Geneseo finished with a 17-15 edge in shots as well as penalty corners, 16-13.

Winners of six of their last seven games, the Knights close out the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 31) hosting Rochester in a game that was moved to an 11:00 a.m. start.
