Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Matt D'Amico recorded a hat-trick to lead the Knights to a 3-0 victory over visiting Potsdam, Saturday, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.
Play went back and forth in the first half as the Knights strung together several offensive opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.
Geneseo controlled possession in the second half, outshooting the Bears, 15-7. In the 73rd minute, D'Amico broke the scoreless tie with a goal into the right corner of the net off an assist from sophomore midfielder Reidis Lata.
D'Amico and Lata connected once more in the 86th minute when D'Amico netted a low shot from the right side of the box after taking a pass from Lata at the top of the box.
Just over a minute later, D'Amico completed the natural hat-trick after taking a pass from senior forward Jaisen Clark and beating the keeper for the score.
Geneseo (9-6-3, 4-5 SUNYAC) finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots as senior keeper Logan Calvey made five saves to preserve his seventh shutout of the season.
Prior to today's match, the Class of 2016 was honored in a brief pre-game senior day ceremony. The seniors included: Calvey, Clark, Stanley Egbuchulam, Chris Kanaval, Ian Ksanznak, Jesse Levy, Kevin Maddock and Terence McGovern.
The Knights will play their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at home versus St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
