Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior keeper Logan Calvey recorded four saves as the Knights fall on the road to Cortland, 1-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Saturday afternoon.
The Red Dragons got on the scoreboard early in the first half with a score in the seventh minute of play. First-year forward Billy Walsh one-timed a shot into the inside of the right post off a cross from senior back Andrew Troisi. Geneseo strung together several opportunities but was unable to find the back of the net as Cortland entered halftime with a 9-7 edge in shots.
The Knights outshot the hosts in the second half, 8-7, but were held off the scoreboard as the Red Dragons held on for the shutout. Cortland (9-4-2, 4-3-1 SUNYAC) finished with an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior midfielder Matt D'Amico tallied a game-high seven shots, including three shots on goal, as the squad suffered its fourth loss this season by a margin of one goal.
Geneseo (7-6-3, 2-5 SUNYAC) returns to action next Friday, Oct. 23, at home opposite Plattsburgh. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
