OSWEGO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Matt D'Amico scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season to lead the Knights to a 1-0 overtime victory at Oswego in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Friday afternoon.

"We didn't start off the game well so we made some minor adjustments at halftime and in the second half we really took it to them offensively," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "Before overtime I told the team that if they keep doing what they're doing they'll get a score. Matt had a great goal for us and he can just really finish around the net."

Play went back and forth in the first half as neither team was able to get on the scoreboard and the host Lakers entered halftime with a 6-3 edge in shots.

Geneseo's best offesnive opportunity in regulation came in the final minute when junior forward Ethan Gunty carried the ball along the right side of the field and slid a shot behind the backline that sailed off the left post.

In the 96th minute, D'Amico tallied his second game-winning goal this year after sophomore midfielder Kevin McGrath sent a long ball through two defenders and D'Amico beat the Lakers' keeper one-on-one to knock in the score.

Geneseo (7-5-3, 2-4 SUNYAC) outshot Oswego (4-8-1, 1-6 SUNYAC), 20-12, as senior keeper Logan Calvey recorded five saves to preserve his fifth shutout on the season.

The Knights continue conference play tomorrow, Oct. 17, with a game at Cortland set for 1 p.m.
