BROCKPORT, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Elena Hingston totaled two goals and an assist to lead the Knights to an 8-1 victory at Brockport in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) field hockey action, Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Morgan Maley, who finished the day with a goal and two assists, converted a feed from sophomore forward Cara Stafford in the third minute before Stafford lifted a shot over Golden Eagle goalie Adriana DeDie from the top left corner of the circle in the 18th minute to put the Knights up 2-0.  

Brockport (1-14, 1-5 SUNYAC) got on the board in the 23rd minute after sophomore midfielder Margo Tremaine cleaned up a Golden Eagle penalty corner attempt with a hard shot inside the left post.

Geneseo (7-6, 3-1 SUNYAC) took a 3-1 lead into the half time locker room after Hingston scored with a hard drive from the top of the circle off a perfect penalty corner feed from Maley in the 30th minute.

Geneseo notched three unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to pull away for good. Sophomore midfielder Giovanna Fasanello scored from close range in the 45th minute, before first-year midfielder Tess Necaise finished off a penalty corner attempt in the 47th minute. Junior forward Amy Fasel made it a 6-1 lead for the visitors with under 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

Hingston notched her second goal of the game during a penalty corner attempt in the 57th minute before sophomore forward Molly Higgins closed the scoring with a tally in the 63rd minute. 

Senior goalkeeper Dayna Mercer logged two saves to earn her seventh victory of the season. 

Geneseo returns to action on Friday, hosting Cortland in a key SUNYAC matchup at 3:00 p.m.
