Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore guard Kara Houppert scored a career-high 18 points while senior forward Shannon McGinnis added 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Knights to the 65-47 victory over visiting Brockport, Friday, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball.
Junior forward Allison McKenna totaled eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks while senior guard Biz Reinhardt had six points in the win.
Geneseo jumped out to an early lead as a lay-up from senior forward Lea Sobieraski put the team up 11-4 with 14:19 on the clock. Just under three minutes later, McGinnis hit two free-throws to extend the Knights' lead to 18-10.
The Golden Eagles (5-12, 3-7 SUNYAC) responded by going on 9-2 run to bring the score within one, 20-19, at 5:44, but the Knights scored 10 of the final 13 points of the half to take an eight-point edge into the break, 30-22.
At 15:16, sophomore guard Bridgit Ryan hit a shot from long-range to put Geneseo up 38-34 as Ryan finished the night with six points and seven rebounds.
Leading, 49-37, with 8:44 remaining in the game, the Knights went on a 14-0 run to go up 63-37 at 4:12. The run was capped by two free-throws from Reinhardt, as Geneseo led by many as 26 in the second half to cruise to its seventh-straight victory.
The Knights (13-4, 9-1 SUNYAC) return to action Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Oswego for the first of three-straight road games. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
