Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Gordon Lyons totaled 13 points and 15 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season, but it was visiting Plattsburgh taking a 68-51 decision, Friday night, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball.
Five Plattsburgh players scored in double-figures, including Ezra Hodgson, who scored a team-best 12 points, as the Cardinals connected on 11 three-pointers, including seven to pull away in the second half.
Geneseo (8-7, 4-4 SUNYAC) scored the first five points of the game, but the Cardinals responded with a 15-2 run to take an eight-point lead with 12:32 left in the half.
Trailing, 17-9, at 10:43, four-straight Lyons free throws capped a 10-5 Knights' spurt that made it a four-point deficit, 23-19, at 5:48, but it was the Cardinals taking a 30-25 lead into the halftime locker room.
Geneseo cut it to a three-point Cardinal lead, 36-33, on a lay-up by senior forward Devon Anderson at 15:22, but Plattsburgh would start to pull away with some timely three-point shooting down the stretch.
The Cardinals turned a 40-35 lead at 13:40 into a 13-point lead, 53-40, following a three-pointer by Kyle Richardson at 8:15. Another Richardson long ball at 4:35 extended the visitors to a 17-point edge, 66-49, that would grow to as many as 19 the rest of the way.
Geneseo returns to action on Saturday, hosting Potsdam at 2:00 p.m.
