Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Genseo sophomore forward Connor Anthoine scored his third goal of the season but it was visiting Nazareth tallying three unanswered goals to earn the 3-1 victory over the Knights, Tuesday night.
Anthoine finished off a short pass from senior forward Justin Scharfe seven minutes into the game to stake the Knights to the early 1-0 lead.
Nazareth (7-6-3) evened the game with a power-play goal in the final minute of the period after the Knights were called for a checking-from-behind penalty. Julius Tamasy converted the extra-man opportunity off an assist from Don Olivieri with 51 seconds on the clock as the teams headed to the first intermission tied, 1-1.
The Golden Flyers broked the tied at the 16:26 mark of the second period after a Geneseo turnover on the right side of its own net led to an easy goal by Oliver Janzen, who stuffed the errant pass past Knights senior goalie Nick Horrigan inside the right post for the 2-1 edge that remained until the final minute of regulation.
With Horrigan pulled for an extra Geneseo skater, Tamasy took control of the puck at center ice and skated in on the Geneseo goal. A Knights defender attempted to catch him from behind, but brought him down just as he was about to shoot the puck into the open net. The officials awarded Tamasy the goal to seal the victory.
Horrigan was credited with 28 saves in the loss, while his counterpart, Ed Zdolshek, compiled 35 saves to earn the victory.
Geneseo finishes off its three-game, non-league home stand on Saturday night, hosting Canton at 7:00 p.m.
