GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Emily Green scored the game-winning goal in the 106th minute as the Knights defeated visiting Buffalo State in double-overtime, 2-1, to pick up their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory, Saturday.

"Today was another physical SUNYAC battle for us but fortunately we were able to play our game and get the result we wanted," said head coach Nate Wiley. "The girls did a great job of making adjustments in the attacking third from yesterday's match without having any training or practice time and solely relying on what I said to them."

The Knights maintained possession well in the first half and prevented the Bengals (3-4-2, 1-1) from getting anything going offensively but were unable to find the back of the net.

In the 64th minute, junior forward Kelsey Raschke scored from close range in a crowded box after first-year midfielder Leah Greene controlled the ball off of a save by Buffalo State goalkeeper Jessica McCarey and delivered her a pass. The score became one-all in the 78th minute when sophomore back Patricia Galan went up for a header to block a Bengals shot that resulted in an own goal.

Geneseo strung together a couple strong offensive series after the equalizer but it wasn't until the 107th minute of extra time that Green scored a goal into the top right of the net off of a corner kick by senior midfielder Erin Froehlich. The score was Green's second of the weekend and fourth of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Allison Stamp recorded six saves as the Knights outshot the Bengals, 26-9.

Geneseo (7-2-1, 1-1) returns to action next Saturday with a game on the road at New Paltz slated to begin at 4 p.m.
