Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior forward Jason Iannone scored his first goal of the season, but it was visiting Hobart taking the 3-1 win, Saturday at Saratoga Field.
Hobart (5-2) was the first to get on the board as Jacob Fox headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick by Tyler Terens in the 38th minute. Five minutes later, Marco Ronning converted on a penalty shot from 11 yards out to bring Hobart ahead, 2-0, in the last two minutes of first half play.
Starting off the second half, Hobart's Zico Gaeffke received a long ball to the left corner and crossed it to Adrian Colmenares. Colmenares chested the ball in from close range in the 51st minute for the Statesmen's third goal.
The Knights (3-3-1) responded sixteen minutes later with their only goal of the day. Iannone dribbled through three defenders starting from 10 yards out and delivered a high ball that bounced off the cross bar and landed behind the goal line for a final score of 3-1.
The Knights tallied 17 shots to the Statesmen's 9, but they were unable to capitalize. Junior goalie Logan Calvey had two saves in the loss.
Geneseo returns to action with a match at Fredonia, next Friday (Sept. 26). Faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
