Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year forward Stephen Collins logged his second collegiate hat trick to lead the No. 14 Knights to a 4-1 victory and home-and-home sweep over Brockport in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) ice hockey, Saturday.
Collins got the Knights (16-5, 10-2 SUNYAC) on the board in the seventh minute after making a nice move in the slot to get free for a shot into the right side of the net.
First-year centerman Jack Ceglarski made it a 2-0 Geneseo lead less than two minutes later after his centering pass from behind the Golden Eagle goal deflected off a skate out front and into the net.
In the 13th minute, Brockport (6-12-3, 3-8-1 SUNYAC) would log its only goal of the game as Shane Cavalieri deflected a shot by Troy Polino past Knights' sophomore goalie Nick Horrigan.
Geneseo would bounce back less than three minutes later as Collins stuck a hard shot from the point into the top-right corner of the goal to make it a 3-1 Knights' edge after the first period of play.
Collins would account for the only other tally of the game, flipping a short shot over Brockport goalie Jared Lockhurst in the first minute of the third period to complete the trifecta and the Knights' two-game sweep of Brockport that also included a 3-2 road win last night.
Horrigan made a career-best 32 saves to improve to 7-1 this eason, while Lockhurst was credited with 30 saves in the loss.
Collins' netted his first career three-goal game in the Knights' 6-1 victory over Morrisville on Nov. 2 earlier this season.
Geneseo is back on the road for its final two regular-season games away from home next weekend, taking on Oswego on Friday and Cortland on Saturday. Both games are set to faceoff at 7:00 p.m.
