Women's Basketball Falls To Plattsburgh, 81-67

GENESEO N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year forward Bridgit Ryan scored a career-high 22 points but it was Plattsburgh earning an 81-67 victory in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Saturday. Sophomore forward Allison McKenna recorded her second double-double of the year, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the loss. 

The Knights (13-6, 7-5 SUNYAC) were on top in the early going as junior center Katie Peterson sparked a 12-3 run that gave the Knights a 13-point lead, 23-10, with 10:03 left in the game. Geneseo extended its lead, 28-15 with 6:33 on the clock before Plattsburgh used a 17-6 run to finish the half only down by two, 34-32.

Plattsburgh (16-4, 11-2 SUNYAC) took control in the second half as a three-pointer by Kathleen Payne 26 seconds in to the period kicked off a 24-9 burst that gave the visitors a 56-43 advantage the Knights could not overcome. Geneseo would not close the deficit to single-digits for the remainder of the game.

Geneseo out-rebounded the Cardinals, 44-32, but couldn't overcome 19 points allowed off 20 turnovers. 

Payne scored all of her game-high 22 points in the second half, converting 7-of-11 shots and 4-of-4 three-pointers. 

The Knights return to action on Tuesday, hosting Brockport at 6:00 p.m.
