Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Genseo junior forward Shannon McGinnis scored a game-high 19 points while first-year forward Katie Vienneau added 12 points off the bench to lead the Knights to a 71-26 victory at Brockport in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball play, Saturday afternoon.
The Knights led, 35-16, at halftime and held the Golden Eagles to 10 second-half points to earn the victory.
The Geneseo defense held Brockport (8-9, 4-6 SUNYAC) to 7-of-30 shooting in the first half, including 0-of-11 shot from beyond the arc, while out-rebounding their hosts, 26-17, over the first 20 minutes of play.
It was more of the same in the second half as Geneseo controlled the boards to the tune of an 18-6 advantage, while limiteing to 3-of-23 field goal attempts.
The defensive effort marked the fewest points the Knights had given up since a 98-25 victory at New Paltz on Dec. 10, 1994. The 45-point margin of of victory was also the largest since an 87-40 home win over Oswego on Feb. 20, 1999.
Geneseo returns home next Friday, hosting Potsdam at 6:00 p.m.
