Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Tyler Brickler and junior forward David Ripple each tallied a goal and an assist, but it was No. 7 Plattsburgh bouncing back from a 3-0, second-period deficit with six unanswered tallies to send the No. 4 Knights to the 7-4 defeat, Saturday, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey.
Geneseo (2-2, 2-2 SUNYAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead 13:29 into the game on goals by junior forward Ryan Donnelly and Ripple 39 seconds apart. Following the first intermission, Brickler put the Knights up 3-0 with 14:05 left in the second period.
Plattsburgh started its run with two goals in the next 47 seconds. Junior center Luke Baleshta got things going 35 seconds after Ripple's tally, before first-year forward Matt Quilty scored 12 seconds later to pull the Cardinals within one, 3-2, at 13:18 of the second.
Junior winger Kevin Emmerling pulled the Cardinals even with a score with 9:45 on the clock, before junior center Michael Radisa gave Plattsburgh a lead with 3:02 left in the period that it would not relinquish.
Sophomore left winger Kyle Hall would cash in a power-play goal 29 seconds into the third period to make it a 5-3 lead for the visitors, before first-year Brandon O'Quinn made it a 6-3 edge 2:25 left in regulation.
Geneseo senior forward Ryan Stanimir scored an unassisted goal with 1:42 remaining, but a Plattsburgh empty netter by senior forward Connor Toomey 21 seconds later finished the night.
Geneseo junior goalie Nick Horrigan was credited with 32 saves as Plattsburgh out-shot the Knights, 39-30. Cardinal sophomore netminder Spencer Finney earned the victory with 26 saves.
The Knights return to action next Friday (Nov. 14) with a SUNYAC road trip to Brockport at 7:00 p.m., before hosting Franklin Pierce on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 3:00 p.m.
