Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Sarah Malinak scored two goals while junior forward Kailey Suhr added another to lead the Knights to a 3-1 field hockey victory, Wednesday afternoon.
Nazareth (6-9) got on the board first 12 minutes into the game on a tally by Catherine Willard. Suhr would knot the score in the 25th minute with her third goal of the season, before Malinak netted her third score of the season in the 28th minute to give the Knights a 2-1 lead they would take into intermission.
Malinak added her fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute off an assist from first-year defender Clara Bates for a two-goal lead that proved to be the difference.
Geneseo (4-8) out-shot the Golden Flyers, 16-10, as junior goalie Dayna Mercer was credited with five saves to earn the victory.
Malinak's two goals moved her into fifth-place on Geneseo's career goal-scoring list with 26 to date. Her 63 career points also only rank her two points shy of the program's top-five all-time scorers.
The Knights return to action next Wednesday, hosting State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)-rival Brockport for a 4:00 p.m. faceoff.
