GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Emily Green scores her fifth goal of the season to lead the Knights past host Oneonta, 2-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, Saturday afternoon.

"Today, we were really responsible with the ball, more so than we have ever been," said head coach Nate Wiley. "We did some thigns in training this week and the team was able to come out this weekend and execute. This was a tough road trip for us and Oneonta is a hostile environment so to come out and complete two shut outs, the team deserves all the credit."

Geneseo controlled much of play in the first period, recording a 6-0 margin in shots. In the 37th minute, Green scored a low shot from within the box after sophomore forward Laurie Knapp was on a breakaway and fed her the ball when Oneonta keeper Kelley Murphy came off the goal line to charge the play.

Defensively, the Knights remained strong to hold up a one-goal lead over Oneonta (3-6-2, 1-2-1 SUNYAC). The game was put out of reach in the 88th minute when first-year midfielder Leah Greene collected a loose ball and shot it from the center of the box for her fourth goal of the weekend.

"Leah is an incredible athlete and a smart soccer player. She's a match-up most teams don't know what to do with because she has the ability to score in a multitude of ways," said Wiley.

Senior keeper Allison Stamp was only called upon to make one save as the Geneseo outshot the Red Dragons, 13-1, and earned 11 corner kicks.

The Knights (9-2-1, 3-1-0 SUNYAC) return to action on Wednesday for a non-conference match-up with Elmira scheduled to kick-off at 4 p.m. at Saratoga Field.
