Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo first-year midfielder Leah Greene recorded a hat trick to lead the Knights past host New Paltz, 5-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Friday afternoon.
Geneseo got on the board in the 22nd minute when Greene received a pass from junior forward Kelsey Raschke in the box, took on Hawks' keeper Katelyn Cordero one-on-one and scored into the lower left side of the net.
In the 31st minute, Greene tallied her second goal of the afternoon on a header from inside the box after senior back Erin Froehlich delivered a cross from the right side of the field to give the Knights a 2-0 lead at the half.
Geneseo proved to be too much for New Paltz (6-5-1, 0-2-1 SUNYAC) in the second period as Greene recorded a hat-trick in the 52nd minute of play. Greene found the back of the net after sophomore forwad Laurie Knapp fed her the ball from the left sideline.
In the 54th minute, Raschke scored her fourth goal of the season after senior forward Jori Semrau and Greene connected passes through the middle of the field and laid off the ball.
The Knights' fifth tally of the game came in the 88th minute when first-year midfielder Michaelyn Benson scored off of a corner kick by first-year forward Audrey Reid for her first collegiate goal.
Senior goalkeeper Allison Stamp collected three saves as the team outshot New Paltz, 24-10.
Geneseo (8-2-1, 2-1-0 SUNYAC) returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a match at Oneonta slated to begin at 1 p.m.
