Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Kelsey Raschke recorded an assist and a goal in the second half to lead the Knights past visiting Potsdam, 2-0, in the team's final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and regular season match, Saturday.
With the win, Geneseo (14-2-2, 7-1-1 SUNYAC) clinched the top seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and awaits the winner of the first-round match-up between fifth-seeded Plattsburgh and fourth-seeded Oneonta next Saturday, November 1st. The team will host the semifinal game on November 5th at 1 p.m.
Geneseo maintained possession well in the first period but was unable to string together a strong offensive series as the teams entered halftime scoreless. During the break, seniors Allison Stamp, Karlee McCorry, Jori Semrau and Erin Froehlich were honored for their contributions during their time with the program.
In the 62nd minute, first-year forward Leah Greene scored her team-leading 11th goal when she tapped the ball in from two yards out after the Bears' goalkeeper knocked down a cross by Raschke.
In the 90th minute, Raschke secured the win when she beat Potsdam's goalkeeper to the ball and scored from ten yards out into the lower left half of the net.
Stamp recorded two saves to preserve her 10th shutout of the season as the Knights outshot the Bears (6-10-1, 1-8-0 SUNYAC), 17-2, allowing no shots in the second half.
