Box Score HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Elena Hingston and first-year forward Emma Dempsey scored first-half goals to stake SUNY Geneseo to a 2-1 halftime lead, before three unanswered second-half goals pushed the visiting Knights to a 5-1 victory over host Houghton, Tuesday.
Hingston put Geneseo (6-9) on the board in the 10th minute, before Houghton answered in the 22nd minute. Dempsey scored just over a minute later off the second assist of the game by junior forward Kailey Suhr to give the Knights a 2-1 lead it would take into halftime and not relinquish.
First-year forward Cara Stafford scored in the 58th minute off an assist by senior midfielder Ashley Favata, before sophomore forward Amy Fasel scored her first goal of the season off a Demspey assist in the 63rd minute.
Junior forward Sarah Malinak scored and unassisted tally in the 67th minute to close out the scoring, while moving within one point of Leslie Howlett '03 for fourth place on Geneseo's career scoring list with 68 points to date.
The Knights close out the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) portion of the 2014 schedule on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. faceoff at Oswego.
