Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Connor Beisner tallied his second goal on the season to lead the Knights past visiting Cortland, 1-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Saturday afternoon. The loss marks Cortland's first in conference play while snapping an 12-match undefeated streak.
"I thought we certainly played one of our best games of the season today," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "Cortland came in very hot and had been playing really well. I truly thought for long stretches we were the better team and I'm happy with our performance. It was a huge win for us and we needed this one today."
In the 43rd minute, Beisner collected a rebound and scored from two yards out after Red Dragons senior keeper Tim Beauva came off the goal line and blocked a shot by senior forward Jason Iannone.
Geneseo kept up the pressure offensively in the second half, limiting Cortland's (11-3-1, 6-1-1 SUNYAC) possesions and allowing only two shots on goal.
Junior keeper Logan Calvey collected six saves to preserve his sixth shutout of the year as the Knights outshot the Red Dragons, 11-10.
Prior to the match, seniors Beisner, Iannon, Jason Falk, Richard Bellusci, Patrick Gunty, Neil Allen and Tyler Chauncey were honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
