Men's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Oswego, 1-0

Box Score

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior keeper Logan Calvey collected two saves as the Knights' backfield held Oswego to only three shots on goal but it was the Lakers coming away with the 1-0 victory, Friday afternoon, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.

"We weren't great offensively today and while we kept up the pressure throughout the game, we just couldn't get anything accomplished," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "We kept the ball in their end but we couldn't get more than a couple clean looks and that's what hurt us today."

Oswego (4-8-2, 3-3-1 SUNYAC) scored the game's lone goal in the 17th minute after first-year forward Nick Zingaro headed the ball to sophomore back Brody Magro in the middle of the box, causing Calvey to come off his line in attempt to clear the ball away. Magro got a head on the ball and scored over Calvey to put the Lakers up 1-0.

In the 60th minute, Geneseo narrowly missed a scoring opportunity after a shot from the left side of the box by senior midfielder Patrick Gunty was blocked by Oswego junior keeper Todd Lawson. Senior midfielder Connor Beisner was there for the rebound but his shot sailed high.

The Knights (7-6-2, 2-3-1 SUNYAC) return to action Saturday opposite Cortland for their final home game of the season. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. as the squad's seven seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
