GENESEO N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Shannon McGinnis scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to earn her seventh double-double of the season as the Knights defeated Oswego, 83-58, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Tuesday. 

Starting the night with a layup 10 seconds into the game, McGinnis would compile 10 points in the first six minutes to give the Knights a 15-6 lead with 14:08 on the clock. Never trailing the entire night, Geneseo would grow a 16-point lead, 30-14, at the 7:00 mark into a 19-point edge, 44-25 at halftime after shooting better than 47 percent over the first 20 minutes.  

McGinnis would finish the half with 15 points, while first-year forward Bridgit Ryan would add 10 of her 12 points on the evening before intermission.  

The second half was more of the same as Geneseo started with a 13-5 spurt to build a 27-point advantage, 57-30, with 15:30 on the clock. The Knights would grow their lead to as many as 28 down the stretch to put away their second win of the season over the Lakers after also picking up a 69-50 road victory on Jan. 18.

Junior Biz Reinhardt scored eight of her 12 points on the night in the second half, while first-year forward Kayleigh Cavanaugh would tally all seven of her points during the game in the final 20 minute of play.

The Knights connected on 8-of-18 (44.4%) shots from behind the arc, up from their season average of 33.9 percent, while holding the conference's top three-point shooting team to a 3-of-16 showing from long range. 

Geneseo hits the road on Saturday to take on Brockport at 6:00 p.m.
