Box Score 2 PITTSFORD, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo shutout Hilbert, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-17), before falling to host Nazareth, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22), on the first day of the Golden Flyer Women's Volleyball Invitational, Friday.
"I thought we were much more fluid and cohesive on the court today," said head coach Jen Salmon. "We showed more maturity today at some key points, so I am happy with our progress. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's matches as we continue to gain more confidence in our play."
In the opener versus Hilbert, sophomore setter Erika Dannenfelser compiled 30 assists, while first-year outside hitter Tricia Baxley totaled 10 kills on 19 swings for a .368 hitting percentage to lead the Knigts to the sweep.
It was the second time in three days the two teams played each other, as the Knights also were victorious in a 3-2 marathon in Buffalo on Wednesday.
In the Nazareth match, sophomore outside hitter Lizzy Morton led the way with nine kills and 11 digs, whle Dannenfelser totaled 29 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Jia Sha chipped in nine digs during the match.
Geneeseo (3-3) returns to action tomorrow with a 10:00 a.m. showdown against RIT, before playing a final match in the consolation bracket at either 2:00 or 4:00 p.m.
