CLARKSON, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Rich Bellusci scored two goals to lead the Knights to a 3-0 shutout at Clarkson, Friday afternoon. Sophomore forward Stanley Egbuchulam also netted his first goal of the season as the Knights scored all three goals in the first half and never looked back.

"It is good to see continual improvement as this was clearly our best game so far this season," said head coach Dominic Oliveri. "Offensively, we played with a lot of poise and controlled the ball well. Our defense did a good job as well, controlling the tempo and shutting them down especially on their set pieces."

Egbuchulam got the scoring started in the 13th minute as senior midfielder Craig Schackner headed down a ball at midfield and sent a pass down the right side through the Golden Knights defense. Egbuchulam split a pair of defenders and scored on an eight-yard shot to put the Knights on the board.

Twenty four minutes later, Belusci tallied both his goals in just over a two-minute span to put the game out of reach. Sophomore midfielder Jaisen Clark threaded a pass behind the Clarkson defense to set up a breakaway opportunity down the left side that Bellusci finished off with a 10-yard rip into the lower right corner to make it a 2-0 game at 36:07.

Two minutes and five second later, Bellusci collected another through ball on the left side, this time served up by junior forward Neil Allen, that he netted on a 12-yard strike at 38:12.

Senior keeper Dan Maddock made three saves to preserve the Knights' first shutout of the season, as Geneseo outshot Clarkson, 12-5.

Bellusci now has compiled 10 points this season on five goals in the Knights' first three games. He and the squad look to keep things rolling on Saturday, squaring off with host St. Lawrence at 2:00 p.m.
