Box Score 2 BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore outside hitter Lizzy Morton collected 13 kills and 12 digs to lead the Knights to a 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19) victory over Brockport to open the second day of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool play, hosted by the Golden Eagles.
The Knights also took on New Paltz, falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) to finish 1-2 for the weekend. Geneseo opened the round-robin competition with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15) setback to Buffalo State on Friday night.
Freshman outside hitter Tricia Baxley also compiled 13 kills in the victory versus Brockport. Sophomore libero Samantha Holdredge was credited with a career-high 30 digs, while sophomore setter Erika Dannenfelser chipped in 34 assists to the victory.
Versus New Paltz (13-5, 2-0 SUNYAC), Holdredge totaled 21 digs, while Dannenfelser combined 17 assists with 12 digs for the double-double. Baxley was credited with nine kills and zero errors to hit a sparkling .643 for the match.
Geneseo (9-10, 1-2 SUNYAC) will play the second SUNYAC Pool Play weekend next Friday and Saturday at Potsdam, taking on the host Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, before squaring off with Cortland (10:00 a.m.) and Oswego (12:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
