Box Score

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Senior goalkeeper Julia Sanger (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) made four saves but it was host Farmingdale taking a 1-0 victory in the season opener for both teams on day-one of the Rams Classic, Friday.

"I thought we played well and had a lot of opportunies but we just didn't end up with the result we wanted,"said head coach Nate Wiley. "After a back-and-forth first half, I thought we came out well and controlled the second half, but they had one solid opportunity and cashed in."

After a scoreless first half, Farmingdale (1-0) nothced the game's lone goal at the 74:55 mark as sophomore forward Ashley Thompson converted a feed from sophomore Katlyn Merino.

The Knights best opportunity of the afternoon came shortly before in the 66th minute as senior midfielder Alexa Vojvodic served a 20-yard pass behind the Farmindale defense where first-year forward Erin O'Connor (Remsen, N.Y/Remsen) broke free for the goal. O'Connor dribbled on net and unleashd an 18-yard shot, only to be denied by a diving save by Ram goalie Brenna Blair.

Geneseo (0-1) out-shot the Rams, 12-10.

The Knights return to action on Saturday, taking on Western Connecticut at 2:00 p.m. second-round action. Western Connecticut defeated Emmanuel (Mass.), 3-2, in the afternoon's other matchup.
