Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Connor Fedge came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points, including a school record-tying 14-of-14 performance from the free throw line, to lead the Knights to a 82-73 victory over Hobart in the fifth-place game of the Wendy's College Classic, Saturday, hosted by St. John Fisher.
Fedge led four Geneseo players in double-figure scoring, including junior forward Gordon Lyons who tallied 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds for his third-straight double-double and earn first-team all-tournament honors. Junior forward James McKenna chipped in 18 points, including a 5-of-7 night from three-point range, while senior forward Matt Curry added 13 points for the Knights (4-1).
"Today was another great team effort," said head coach Steve Minton. "Connor Fedge had another great game off the bench and was fantastic from the line. McKenna and Curry were tough matchups on the perimeter for Hobart's post players and were able to get some good looks from behind the three-point arc."
Leading 10-8 with 13:31 on the clock, the Knights used a 11-2 run over the next four minutes capped by a Fedge jumper to build a 21-10 lead with 9:16 to play in the first half. Hobart would pull within six, 23-17, less than six minutes later, but Geneseo would increase its lead to 18, 46-18, at halftime.
Geneseo would go on to shoot better than 55% from the floor in the second half, while hitting 14-of-15 free throws to put the game out of reach
The Knights return to action on Monday, hosting Alfred at 7:00 p.m. in Schrader Gymnasium.
