PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year forward Stephen Collins scored a second-period goal but it was host Plattsburgh handing the Knights their first loss of the season in a 4-1 setback in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) hockey action, Friday.

Plattsburgh (2-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) scored power play goal in the fifth minute of action on the first of two extra-man tallies by Barry Roytman on the evening. The Cardinals made it a 2-0 lead at the first intermission with a short-handed talley 26 second by Mchale Radisa before the buzzer sounded. Alex Jensen assisted both goals in the first period.

Plattsburgh found the net again less than two minutes into the second stanza on an unassisted tally by Kevin Emmerling to make it a 3-0 Cardinal edge. Collins got the Knights on the board in 10th minute of action on assist from sophomore forward Brent Bisdee to make it a two-goal deficit, but Roytman would again score on the power pla in the 16th minute to post Plattsburgh back to a three-goal advantage it never surrendered. 

Sophomore Nick Horrigan made 13 saves in 21:57 of action before being spelled by junior Bryan Haude who made 19 saves the rest of the way as Plattsburgh built a 35-24 advantage in shots.

Geneseo (2-1, 2-1 SUNYAC) will return to action on Saturday night with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff at Potsdam.
