Field Hockey Stumbles In OT, 4-3, At Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Sarah Malinak scored two goals but it was Hamilton notching three unanswered goals to comeback for a 4-3 overtime victory against the Knights, Tuesday.

Tied 1-1 through the first half, goals by sophomore midfielder Elena Hingston at 47:39 and Malinak at 55:36 gave the Knights a 3-1 cusion with less than 15 minutes to play in regulation. However, the Colonials would net back-to-back goals during a four-minute stretch to knot the game, 3-3, with less than three minutes to play to force the extra period.

Hamilton's Casey Brown finished her second goal of the day off a short pass in front of the Geneseo cage 2:58 into the extra period to send the Knights to their second-consecutive overtime road loss as No. 12 Skidmore also pulled out a 5-4 decision on Saturday.

Geneseo (6-5) starts a three-match home stand on Saturday, hosting SUNYAC-rival Oswego in a 1:00 p.m. faceoff at Upper Alumni Field.
