Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. -- SUNY Geneseo first-year forward Laurie Knapp scored her first collegiate goal in the first half to leads he Knights to a 2-0 victory over New Paltz in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's soccer, Saturday afternoon.
Knapp was the recipient of a fortunate bounce after a shot by first-year midfielder Emily Green bounced off the cross bar and went through the hands of New Paltz goal keeper Krysten Kane. Knapp was there to collect the rebound and score from inside 10 yards to put the Knights on top in the 21st minute.
Junior midfielder Jori Semrau made it a 2-0 game in the 66th minute connecting on a shot from 20 yards out after dribbling into open space unchecked.
Senior goalkeeper Julia Sanger was only called upon to make one save on the afternoon, but was credited with her sixth shutout for the season with the victory.
The Knights will return to action traveling to Brockport next Saturday (Oct.12) at 1 p.m.
