GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Alexa Krebs tallied a goal in the 51st minute to lead the Knights in a 1-1 draw opposite visiting Oneonta in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's soccer action, Friday afternoon, at Saratoga Field.

Krebs scored on a beautiful, bending 25-yard free kick into the top-right corner of the goal in to give the Knights (3-4-3, 1-1-1 SUNYAC) a 1-0 lead early in the second half. The Red Dragons responded 20 minutes later with the equalizer on a goal by Lane Vecchiarelli en route to the draw. Vecchiarelli battled off a crowded goal line to get a head on a corner kick by Liz Lasota and score from close range.

"While we obviously would have liked to win the match on our home turf, I will still take earning a point in SUNYAC play against one of the tope teams is the league,"  said head coach Nate Wiley. "Now the important part will be to come back strong again tomorrow and be ready to get back to work against New Paltz."

Both teams had solid scoring opportunities in both overtime periods, but Knights senior keeper Julia Sanger and Red Dragon keeper Rori Stark were up to the challenge. Oneonta's Melissa Guglielmo put a hard shot on goal from inside 15 yards that was smothered by Sanger in the 93rd minute, before the Knights broke out for an opportunity of their own less than 30 seconds later. First-year Emily Green got free for a strike inside 20 yards that was gobbled up by Stark.

In the second overtime period, Oneonta's Kayla Ceschini got loose for an attempt inside 15 yards, but a diving deflection by Sanger preserved the draw.

Sanger finished the game with seven saves as the Red Dragons out-shot the Knights, 20-11. 

Geneseo returns to action on Saturday, hosting New Paltz at 1:00 p.m. in SUNYAC play.
