Men's Soccer Falls At Oneonta, 2-1, In 2OT

Box Score

ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Connor Beisner scored a goal in the first half, but it was host Oneonta coming back with two unanswered goals, including the game-winner in the first minute of double-overtime, to slip away with a 2-1 victory in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's soccer play, Friday.

Beisner sent a shot on goal from outside the penalty box on the right flank that that glanced off a Red Dragon defender and through keeper Vincent Pellegrino's hands to give the Knights (5-5-1, 2-1 SUNYAC) a lead in the 23rd minute.

The Knights appeared poised to pick up their third-straight victory to start conference play, but a miscommunication between the Knight defense on a slow-rolling ball into the box allowed Oneonta's Jake Sutherland to break in alone on Geneseo sophomore keeper Logan Calvey and slip home the equalizer in the 87th minute.

The Red Dragons (7-2-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) snatched the victory 56 second into the second overtime after Luke Halberg sent a cross into the Knights' box. Calvey was able to knock the ball down, but it deflected directly to Justin Rivera, who slid home the decisive goal.

Calvey was credited with seven saves to take his first loss of the season.

Geneseo will get back to work tomorrow, traveling to New Paltz for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff with the Hawks.
