Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Jason Iannone scored a goal in the first half, but it was visiting St. John Fisher spoiling the Knights' last game of the season in a 2-1 double-overtime decision, Wednesday afternoon at Saratoga Field.
Geneseo (6-10-3) got the offense going early with a goal in the fifth minute. Following a breakaway towards the Cardinal net, first-year midfielder Mike Skrzypczyk passed the ball to Iannone, who slipped it past the goalie for his second goal of the season.
The Cardinals (5-9-2) attempted to even the score in the last 30 seconds of the first half. Off of a corner kick in the 45th minute, the ball hit the right post and stayed along the goal line before being picked up by sophomore goalkeeper Logan Calvey.
St. John Fisher finally responded in the second half when the Cardinals' Phillip Brogan took the ball off of a corner kick and headed it right above the hands of first-year goalkeeper Trevor Heckathorn for the equalizer.
During regulation time, the Cardinals outshot the Knights 9-8.
After a scoreless first overtime, St. John Fisher scored the game-winner in the 104th minute. Following a corner kick, Thomas Goetze dribbled a rebounded ball towards the outside of the penalty box before scoring from long-range.
