Johnson begins his first season with Geneseo softball in 2025 as an assistant coach after a decades-long tenure at the high school level. Johnson began his career at Brockport High School, where he was at the helm of the program from 1990-2003. His teams earned Section V Championship titles in 1996, 1997, and 1998.
After leading the Greece Olympia varsity program from 2004-2006, Johnson took a hiatus from the high school scene to serve as Head Coach and Program Lead Instructor for UNY Revolution from 2005-2025, where he helped develop and guide student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level at all levels.
He served as Head Coach at Fairport High School from 2018-2025, where the Red Raiders were crowned Section V Champions in 2022 and 2024. Johnson led his 2024 team to a NYS Class AAA State Finals runner-up finish, where the program also earned the Sportsmanship Award.
Johnson has coached a plethora of All-Conference, All-Greater Rochester, and All-State honorees.
