NEW YORK CITY - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team came out on top in a field of 68 teams comepting at the AARTFC Indoor Championships this past weekend, scoring 82 points, defeating Ithaca in second with 70.
DAY ONE RECAP - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field competed at day 1 of the AARTFC Indoor Championships this afternoon, currently sitting in third place with 20 points.
Jillian Ambler had a great run in the 60m hurdle prelims, finishing in second with a time of 8.59.
Mackenzie Kubat followed it with another second place finish, this time in the long jump. Kubat hit 5.75 for a new personal best and #16 overall in NCAA DIII. The 4x400 relay team of Ambler,
Brynn Mooney,
Nicole Gretzinger and
Stella Riley took first place, marking a season best and setting a new meet record with a time of 3:47.58.
Annika Hurley took seventh in the 5000, crossing at 17:52.89.
Lauren Jaklitsch and
Payton Mehalick finished in 10th and 11th, throwing 12.23 and 12.05 meters respectively.
DAY TWO RECAP - Jillian Ambler competed in the 60m hurdle finals and took third overall for six points at 8.56 seconds, while
Brynn Mooney added four more points by finishing fifth in the 400m.
Nicole Gretzinger and
Dakota Limbert teamed up for 13 points in the 800m, with Gretzinger leading the way in second place at 2:11.71. In the mile, Geneseo finished fourth through seventh, with
Sierra Doody leading the pack at 4:58.45. The team of Ambler, Mooney,
Lindsay Tellez, and Kayla Anastasia won the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:42.54.
Lauren Jaklitsch provided a big highlight in the weight throw, setting a new meet record and the fourth best throw in Division III with a distance of 18.80m. Jaklitsch's throw also set a new program record, breaking her own record of 18.71m.
