INDIANAPOLIS - The SUNY Geneseo women's swimming and diving team closed out their season with a 28th place finish, scoring 18 points at the NCAA Championship Meet in Indianapolis this week.Â
Hannah Brockman opened up the meet in the 500 yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:06.32 in 38th place.
Alex Sotek took on the 50-yard freestyle for the Knights, and finished 19th overall at 23.32 seconds, while teammate
Emily Thomas finished at 24.60 seconds. The Knights capped off day one in the 400-yard medley relay, with the team of Sotek, Thomas,
Sibby Lowe, and
Erin Johannsen finishing 20th overall at 3:51.48.
Day two of the meet saw performances from
Hannah Brockman in the 200 freestyle, Sotek in the 100 yard butterfly,
Morgan Davey and
Lydia Benjamin in the 1-meter dives and the 200 yard free relay team. Brockman opened the day in the 200 yard free, touching at 1:56.52, while Sotek secured a 13th place finish, touching at 55.87 seconds. Davey led for the Knights in the 1M diving, scoring 392.65 prints for 16th, followed by Benjamin in 18th with 387.15 points. Sotek, Johannsen, Lowe and
Emily McCord took on the 200 yard freestyle relay to round out day two, finishing at 1:35.19 for 22nd place.Â
The 200 yard medley team of Sotek, Thomas, Johannsen and Lowe opened the day with a 17th place finish with a time of 1:43.90. Thomas followed it up with a stellar performance in the 100 yard breaststroke, taking 19th with a time of 1:03.76.
Morgan Davey opened the final day for the Knights, landing in 10th place in the 3 meter dive with a score of 434.65 points, followed by Benjamin in 24th with a total of 400.50 points. Sotek finished at 50.94 seconds in the 100 yard freestyle for 22
nd, while
Emily Thomas took 39
th in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.49.
Hannah Brockman competed in the 1650 yard freestyle, taking 23rd with a time of 17:24.11. The 400 yard freestyle team of Sotek, Lowe, Johanssen and McCord rounded out the championship, finishing at 3:30.45 for 23
rd overall.
