BIRMINGHAM, A.L. -Â The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team finished seventh overall at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet in Birmingham, A.L. this past weekend. The Knights posted 26 points, highlighted by 13 points from
Jillian Ambler who took second in the long jump and fourth in the 60m hurdles, and a runner-up finish in the 800m by
Sierra Doody.
DAY ONE RECAP - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team traveled to Birmingham, Alabama for the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday, March 13, and came away with 13 points in seventh place after one day.
Jillian Ambler highlighted the competition, placing second overall in the long jump for First-Team All-American honors. Ambler jumped a distance of 5.91m for runner-up honors, picking up eight points for the Knights in the process.
Lauren Jaklitsch added five points for the Knights as well, placing fourth in the weight throw. Jaklitsch's throw of 18.65m earned her First-Team All-American honors. Ambler also competed in the first round of the 60m hurdles, and qualified for finals tomorrow with a time of 8.57 seconds.
Sierra Doody joined Ambler in qualifying for finals tomorrow, racing to a third place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:10.83.
DAY TWO RECAP - The second day of action was highlighted by the 800m, where
Sierra Doody finished second overall for First-Team All-American honors with a time of 2:09.01.
Jillian Ambler picked up First-Team All-American honors for the second time of the Meet, finishing fourth overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.56 seconds.
